{"id":18,"date":"2020-11-07T09:32:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T09:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/?p=18"},"modified":"2023-03-16T19:01:54","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T02:01:54","slug":"of-greed-and-bureaucracy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/2020\/11\/07\/of-greed-and-bureaucracy\/","title":{"rendered":"of greed and bureaucracy"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>This isn&#8217;t really an update to say that something in particular happened.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just an update showing the slow grind of bureaucracy in the BC government, unwillingness of CIBC estate department to cooperate, the communist mindset of ICBC (excluding some helpful agents and clerks), lawyers waiting for the latest process update before starting the next process (when it could have been started long before), the greed of Tammy Williams and Laura Bowman, and the pokiness of the process of selling a house.<!--more--><\/p>\r\n<p>And, guess what &#8211; I&#8217;m the Executor left in charge, so I can make this claim. It is my mindset that Aizlynn and I should not have been forced a year after Tammy filed a claim against the Estate.\u00a0 She knew damn well what the Will stated to &#8220;divide the rest and residue of my Estate (to) <strong>who are alive then<\/strong>, for their own use absolutely.&#8221;\u00a0 This is unfortunate for Les (Jr.) as it excluded him.\u00a0 Let it be known that I had nothing to do with this.\u00a0 How could I?\u00a0 I&#8217;m just the horse&#8217;s ass that had to carry out the instructions on the Will.\u00a0 Does anyone know how much work being an Executor is?\u00a0 I wouldn&#8217;t wish that appointment on anybody.\u00a0 So, Tammy&#8217;s insistence that I had a) hidden a Will and b) that I tried to convince Father of changing his will is absolutely baseless.\u00a0 I had as much ability to change Father&#8217;s Will as my neighbour Joe down the street.\u00a0 When all this is settled, when the final papers are signed and the Estate is closed, I will make a statement on this.\u00a0 But, for now, I cannot.<\/p>\r\n<p>Laura spent money hiring a lawyer to get a settlement.\u00a0 She got less during this process than the I, the Executor, would have offered her.\u00a0 She did what she asked me not to do &#8211; go through &#8220;proper channels&#8221; (lawyers) to get her pound of flesh.\u00a0 Going through this process opened it up to multiple parties negotiating a settlement, and this resulted in a smaller settlement than what I would have, in time, agreed to.\u00a0 Also, she had to pay the lawyer a fee of, likely, about $6000 from her settlement.\u00a0 Greed once again made her lose out.<\/p>\r\n<p>No, she didn&#8217;t get the Ram truck, for those who keep asking.<\/p>\r\n<p>The buyer of the house and property kept asking me over and over if I planned to sell to him.\u00a0 I told him time and time again that his offer was acceptable and that I would not change my mind.\u00a0 In the end, I did not.\u00a0 But people don&#8217;t rely on anyone&#8217;s word anymore, do they?\u00a0 Plus, he was a Real Estate agent and could do all the paperwork himself, lessening the cost for the Estate.\u00a0 As well, he purchased it &#8220;as-is&#8221;, &#8220;without warrantee whatsoever&#8221;, meaning I didn&#8217;t have to beautify the property to sell it.\u00a0 I did, however, clean as much of Laura&#8217;s crap out of the garage as I could, taking three <em>full<\/em> pickup loads to the dump, rat shit and all.\u00a0 As a housewarming gift, I sent the buyer Father&#8217;s skates as he had a collection of hockey memorabilia.\u00a0 He offered to buy them while viewing the house, but I declined at the time so I could ask Aizlynn.<\/p>\r\n<p>Father has been gone for several years now and likely isn&#8217;t coming back.\u00a0 Yet, we still wait.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This isn&#8217;t really an update to say that something in particular happened.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just an update showing the slow grind of bureaucracy in the BC government, unwillingness of CIBC estate department to cooperate, the communist mindset of ICBC (excluding some helpful agents and clerks), lawyers waiting for the latest process update before starting the next &hellip; <\/p>\n<p class=\"link-more\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/2020\/11\/07\/of-greed-and-bureaucracy\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<span class=\"screen-reader-text\"> &#8220;of greed and bureaucracy&#8221;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=18"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":19,"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/18\/revisions\/19"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=18"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=18"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/lesjohnston.allansplace.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=18"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
