Father’s in hospital.\u00a0 He’d had a seizure, so Laura called 911.\u00a0 They say he’ll be there for a few days.\u00a0 As it turns out, they’d misjudged how much medication he needs to control the seizures.\u00a0 He’s now on 5 tablets rather than 2 per day.<\/p>\r\n
Today I saw Father at the hospital.\u00a0 He was curled up in a ball on his hospital bed.\u00a0 Laura said, \u201cJustin\u2019s here.\u201d\u00a0 He looked and asked me how I was doing.\u00a0 Not bad, I said, and how was he.\u00a0 \u201cNot worth a shit,\u201d he replied.\u00a0 Laura and I fed him some Tim Horton\u2019s coffee by way of straw.\u00a0 We had some small talk for a while.\u00a0 He asked where the bathroom was \u2013 number two \u2013 but Laura said he could just use his nappies.\u00a0 Not very appealing, I know, but I dare say he\u2019s used to that by now.\u00a0 He asked, \u201cHow\u2019s your old mother doing?\u201d\u00a0 I said she was a little slow but doing the best she can and that Floyd was getting a little slower these days but in good health.<\/p>\r\n
When I got back, he was getting a little sleepy.\u00a0 I offered him some more coffee.\u00a0 I put the straw to his lips, but he didn\u2019t respond, so I just put my hand on his head and told him \u2026 some sort of well-being wishes \u2013 can\u2019t remember what.\u00a0 Laura and I talked for a bit, and then it was time to go.\u00a0 I gave his shoulder a hug, hissed his head, told him I love him and to take care, and left.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
